Following the popular release of the Queens Beast Lion of England, The Griffin closely associated with Edward III, is the second the series of ten Queens Beasts. The Griffin symbolised courage, strength and most importantly for Edward III, guardianship. During his reign 1312 – 1377 he was seen as a exceptional king warrior transforming the military within the Kingdom.

The Original 10 statues, sculptured by James Woodford in 1953, stood guard to Her Majesty The Queen’s Coronation. These statues are now housed in Quebec, Canada at the Canadian Museum of History. Stone replicas can be found in Kew Gardens, London.
